The Hamamatsu International Understanding Education Network facilitated a screening of the film “A Plastic Ocean” and organized a workshop after. There were a total of 30 participants. As a group they watched the movie and afterwards discussed their feelings and the relevance of SDG’s. Finally they shared their ideas about what individuals could do to solve the issues in the film.
Following this, 4 groups working in Shizuoka introduced themselves and their work: “DIGtag”, “SEED Bank”, “Will and Weel” and “Strawlic”. Comments from the participants included “I found out that there was a lot of like-minded people who wanted to discuss what we should do about the Plastic Problem” and “I learned a lot of information from the people who are actually working in the field. I was happy that I was able to share simplistic problems which crop up in my daily life and find solutions for them”.
