Hamamatsu City has been promoting language learning measures based on the concept and direction of the “Regional Japanese Language Education Promotion Policy” (formulated in February 2020) using the Hamamatsu City Learning Support Center for Foreign Residents (U-ToC) at it’s center. From this fiscal year, Hamamatsu City will begin implementing measures created based on the “Hamamatsu City Action Plan for Promoting Regional Japanese Language Education”. These were newly compiled specifically to advance language learning policies.
In this symposium, we will report on the “Survey of Japanese-Language Proficiency”, which was conducted last year and also hold a discussion on the theme of “Language and Coexistence”, including a discussion on the role that language plays in coexistence and what other things outside of language are required for meaningful coexistence.
We look forward to seeing many of you at this event, which will provide an opportunity to think about the future promotion of Japanese language education in the Hamamatsu area.
