An “Intercultural City” is a new urban policy concept that sees the diversity of residents from various cultural backgrounds, such as immigrants and minorities, as an opportunity and a source of vitality, innovation, creativity, and growth for a city.
More than 160 cities, mostly in Europe, are members of this network, and Hamamatsu became the first Asian city to join in October 2017.
